Asia Carbon Institute Aims to Accelerate Voluntary Carbon Markets in Asia

Highlight of the news:

The emergence of the carbon market as a means for corporations to achieve their net-zero commitments has raised both potential and concerns. While the market has the potential to drive decarbonization efforts, there is also the risk of greenwashing and insufficient transformation of business practices. The Asia Carbon Institute (ACI) aims to address these challenges and accelerate greenhouse gas mitigation solutions through voluntary carbon markets in Asia.

ACI focuses on various types of greenhouse gas reduction projects. This includes technology-based projects like direct air capture, renewable energy, and energy efficiency projects. It also includes large-scale urban-based carbon reduction projects such as mass transportation, electric vehicles, carbon sequestration in concrete and green construction, and urban waste management projects. Additionally, ACI supports nature-based solutions like natural ecosystem protection, restoration, and management projects.
