4 April 2025 – Asia Carbon Institute (“ACI”) has launched a pilot programme focusing on the Digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (“Pilot”) of carbon emissions reduction. The GHG mitigation project – LocoBike, the largest bike-sharing company in Hong Kong, will be the GHG mitigation Project sponsor under this programme. We invite the public and stakeholders of bike-sharing, transport community to participate in a consultation to share their views and comments on this GHG project for the assessment of carbon emission reduction.
This GHG mitigation project was designed within the sectoral scope of Transport (7), as established by the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Utilising the methodology developed from the established CDM methodology and reports from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China, the project quantifies the reduction in CO2 emissions when users choose bike-sharing over fossil fuel vehicles.
The DMRV Pilot Programme aims to enhance ACI’s upstream and downstream data integration capabilities of the carbon credit certification process, digitally bridging the GHG mitigation activities to the ACI Program and ultimately to the marketplaces, including the capital market. It initially runs for one year, with the possibility of extension. The assessment of carbon emission reduction from this GHG mitigation project will follow the process and procedure of the ACI Program, together with the tentative DMRV process and procedure being adopted. The carbon emission reduction assessed in this Programme are not tradeable. Throughout the Pilot, the tentative DMRV process, tools, and platform under the ACI program will be comprehensively tested with multiple stakeholders using the data from LocoBike and its GHG mitigation project under application.
